The School was established in 1972. The School was recognized as High School by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 1978. Later in year 2011 it was upgraded to Higher Secondary school with Arts and Science streams.
There are 1328 girl students from rural areas of Sonada studying in High school and Higher Secondary section. There are 286 girls who are from the remote villages staying in the hostel.
